Ashneer Grover

Ashneer Grover, Co-founder, and MD of the Indian QR code-based digital payments app BharatPe, has frequently featured in the news and social media and has faced bundles of backlashes, and multitudinous memes for his rash temper and blunt replies to the Shark Tank pitchers. However, all of these were reported off-screen until Grover's voice was recently identified in a voice call with Kotak Wealth Management where he was not only abusing but also threatening the Kotak employee over the failure to secure financing for Nykaa’s initial share sale. However, the voice is yet to be identified as Grover's, who is reportedly denying it.

Ashneer Grover was asked on January 19, 2022, by BharatPe to be on a voluntary leave of absence and was eventually asked to stay on a mandatory leave of absence. However, this was not due to the rash behavior of Grover and neither due to his recent telephone incident but due to a financial fraud of BharatPe of an estimated two-digit crore amount, as of January 29, 2022. This financial misconduct also concerns Ashneer's wife and five other BharatPe employees. The unstable grounds that now holds Ashneer might make it exceedingly difficult for him to return to his former position in the company and as reports go, he might also be fired by the BharatPe Board.
