Remote Health Monitoring Dozee Bags $1.7 Mn For Product Enhancement

Bengaluru-based healthtech startup Dozee has raised INR 12.5 Cr ($1.69 Mn) funding from Prime Venture Partners, YourNest Venture Capital and 3one4 Capital. The company plans to use this funding to expand market outreach and bring rela-time vitals monitoring.

Dozee will also use the funding to enhance product capabilities, complete US’s Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations and other global certifications, and enhance user experience for both physicians and patients.

The company was founded by Gaurav Parchani and Mudit Dandwate in 2015. It also counts Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation as its investor. The company offers a contactless health monitoring system. Dozee works on a technology called Ballistocardiography (BCG), a non-invasive method that tracks vibrations from the smallest of body movements.

It tracks key vitals of the human body such as heart rate, respiration rate, oxygen saturation, sleep stages, stress-recovery and more with a medical-grade 98.4% accuracy. The contactless sensor, which is placed under the mattress, captures real-time body vitals without using any external wires or touching the user’s body. The sensor also has the capability to capture micro-vibrations produced by the body.

The technology was productised after five years of deep research conducted in partnership with hospitals such as NIMHANS and Sri Jayadeva Institute, Bengaluru. The technology is currently being used by over 30 healthcare institutions. It has also monitored over 4K Covid-19 patients in an institutional setting, saving more than 6,000 nursing hours. Dandwate said, “Healthcare is a basic necessity and everyone deserves quality care. Over the last 5 years led by intense R&D, our focus has been to hone Dozee as the most convenient, accurate, and cost-effective health monitor that can easily reach masses.”

Dozee is among the 11 deeptech startups selected in the 12th batch of Jio’s startup programme JioGenNext, which aims to enhance product capabilities, complete certifications and approvals, and improve the user experience for physicians and patients. Besides this, it has also been one of the top five startups in the Telangana government’s BioAsia 2019.
