Codeyoung Secures Seed Funding from Guild Capital

Codeyoung (1), a Bengaluru-based edtech startup, offers live online coding classes to K12 students. It has recently secured an undisclosed amount in a seed funding round. A US-based VC firm, Guild Capital, led the fundraising. The firm would utilize fresh funds to enhance its international markets, academics research, technology, and product team.

Shailendra Dhakad and Rupika Taneja, alumni of IIT Delhi, founded the company in 2019. The mission of Codeyoung is to develop cognitive skills among children via coding. It offers coding courses to K12 students between the ages of 5 and 16, in line with India’s new education policy. As per the amendments, there are guidelines for programming and web development for students in Class 6 and above.

Rupika Taneja, the Co-founder of Codeyoung, commented on the fresh tranche, stated that the team started their journey by launching coding programs to confer a necessary skill to school students engagingly and delightfully. At present, the platform has over 15,000 kids enrolled from across the globe. The latest infusions would help the team reach more students and launch new programs that align with our vision.

Codeyoung to Launch New Programs Aligned With its Vision

The curriculum aims to develop creativity in children and let them express their interests and ideas via coding. It is more than the drag and drop environment and offers students skills to make an industry-level program using popular languages like Python and Java.

Apoorv Gautam, the COO and Indian Head of Guild Capital, stated that the team believes that coding will be as necessary as any other language skills in the upcoming days. Hence, it becomes vital to introduce these courses at an early age. He added that the team is proud to collab with Codeyoung and help them to fulfill their vision.

We believe coding will be as necessary as any other language skill in the coming days, and introducing such courses at an early age will be crucial. We are proud to partner with the Codeyoung team and help them achieve their vision,” Apoorv Gautam, India Head and COO, Guild Capital, added.

Shailendra Dhakad, the Co-founder of Codeyoung, stated that the startup plans to roll out several new coding courses and initiatives. The move aims to address the learning gaps to contribute further towards children’s general education and well-being.
