T-Series Accuses Roposo of Copyright Infringement

India’s largest music production team and even a youtube sensation, T-series, filed a copyright infringement lawsuit against Roposo, one of the most popular video entertainment applications. Roposo is currently owned by Bengaluru-based advertising company, Unicorn InMobi. The case was filed in Delhi High Court. Even the notable investors for Roposo like Tiger Global and Bertelsmann were involved.

Detailed information about the lawsuit:

T-Series sought an injunction to stop Roposo from using their copyrighted material.

According to the President of T-Series, Roposo is infringing content. This music app is offering T-Series music through their library and broadcasting the music to the public.

T-Series had filed a similar lawsuit against the social media platform, ShareChat, last year. However, it signed a deal with ShareChat, and it’s an app, Moj, just two days back.

In a statement, ShareChat president mentioned that this collaboration would be useful to 180 Million users on Mojo, a popular video streaming app owned by ShareChat. Before this, T-Series also signed a deal with Instagram and Facebook.

InMobi(1) acquired Roposo in November 2019. The parent company had plans to expand Roposo into Southeast Asia, including Indonesia.
