Smartphone giant Samsung (1) has rolled out its privacy app called AltZLife that has been developed at its India R&D center and will be available for use on selected handsets.
The Samsung app allows its users of the Galaxy A71 and Galaxy A51, to switch from normal mode to privacy mode by double-tapping the power button and also automatically saves pictures and videos in private folders based on the usage patterns.
This marks as another effort from the Korean tech giant, to help boost PM Modi’s Make in India efforts.
According to the research conducted by Samsung, 79% of the genZ population admitted to having content like pictures, applications, & private chats on their smartphones that they do not want family or others to see.
GenZ or Generation Z refers to the generation that is born between the mid-90s and early 2000s.
Samsung stated that the AltZLife feature would be available to the existing as well as new users of Galaxy A71 and Galaxy A51 through a software update on August 10th, 2020.
Samsung supporting Make in India
Manu Sharma, Senior Director at Samsung India’s Mobile Business, said that the app helps in eliminating the anxiety that an individual usually faces while sharing their smartphones with someone.
He added that it is an industry-first innovation designed to keep in mind the inherent need of the consumers, especially GenZ, for enhanced privacy when it comes to storage & access of the images, videos, and other content smartphones.
Previously the Korean tech giant announced that it had started manufacturing smartwatches in India at its Noida facility as its step towards supporting PM Modi’s Make in India initiative. Samsung has the largest smartphone manufacturing facility in Noida and had also launched a new 4G-enabled smartwatch priced at Rs 28,490 recently.
