Budget airline carrier SpiceJet has acqui-hired Ixigo’s subsidiary airline technology and e-commerce platform Travenues. The entire tech team of the Bengaluru-based platform Travenues will now be functioning as a unit at SpiceJet.
As reported by ET (1), SpiceJet will be taking over the platform built by Travenues, which focused on mobile apps, user experience (UX), cross-selling, payments, engagement, ancillaries, personalization among others.
The move would help the budget carrier in strengthening its ecommerce platforms with Travenues’ team.
Acqui-hiring is a comparatively new concept in the tech industry where the employees of a company are recruited, rather than gaining control of its products or services.
Ashish Vikram, Chief Technology & Innovation Officer at SpiceJet, said in a statement,
“This acqui-hire will help SpiceJet strengthen its e-commerce platforms as we continue to innovate across multiple technology areas and achieve our vision of being the worldwide leader in aviation technology.”
SpiceJet’s digital transformation
Founded in 2019, Travenues offers comprehensive travel-tech optimized airline commerce & ancillary sales platform to air operators that allow for extensive customization and personalization and signed its first tech deal with SpiceJet for the digital transformation of its consumer-facing experiences.
Chandramouli Gopalakrishnan, Chief Digital Officer of Travenues, talked about the partnership saying they were proud of the team & the full stack airline commerce suite that they have built.
Further, he wished SpiceJet team all the best for taking it to the next level with the talented and motivated team.
