Isha Ambani, on Wednesday, during Reliance Industries Ltd’s (RIL) Annual General Meeting (AGM), outlined the company’s focus on healthcare, through its integrated digital healthcare platform, JioHealthHub. Ambani said that the platform will enable people to book online consultations, securely store and share health records and book lab tests, among other services.
Ambani said that the Covid-19 pandemic and the ensuing country-wide lockdown had brought about a “fundamental shift in perspectives about health.” She claimed that the company’s strong Jio 4G mobile network and the JioFiber broadband provide the connectivity required for high-quality video calls and as such, could enable the shift from physical healthcare systems to digital platforms. The company claimed to have delivered more than 1500+ consultations in four weeks with JioHealthHub.
Further in the meeting, it was explained that the app was being used by the Reliance Foundation Hospital to provide virtual OPD services. “It has also launched home quarantine services for Covid positive patients to enable them to access quality care from their homes,” said Isha Ambani.
Ambani added that digital healthcare services in India could be powered by three pillars, namely, Jio 4G mobile network and JioFiber broadband, JioMeet and JioHealthHub platform.
Jio’s health application went live in 2017 but was earlier restricted only to Jio subscribers. Users had to log in using their Jio SIM. Reliance opened up the JioHealthHub application in 2018. To ramp up its teleconsultation offerings, JioHealthHub has, in the past, partnered with startups such as iCliniq, Portea Medical and Thyrocare, among others. The app gained renewed traction this year due to the Covid-19 pandemic when users turned to digital solutions for healthcare. The app provided a new feature that helps users in self-assessment for Covid-19 symptoms. It also includes a list of coronavirus test centres across India, national and world statistics for Covid-19, FAQs, and central and state helpline numbers. The application has more than 1 Mn downloads on the Google Play Store currently, and a user-rating of 4.4/5.
