Reliance chairman Mukesh Ambani, on Wednesday, during the company’s Annual General Meeting (AGM), said that the company’s subsidiary Jio Platforms had developed a complete 5G technology, which would enable the company to launch a ‘Made in India’ 5G solution. Ambani said that the company’s 5G solution would be ready for trial once the country’s 5G auctions begin. Ambani claimed that existing Jio users would be able to upgrade their existing 4G networks to 5G, also saying that a successful trial of the technology in India would allow the company to export the technology.
Ambani said that Jio’s homegrown 5G solution was dedicated to PM Modi’s ‘Aatma Nirbhar Bharat’. He further outlined Jio Platforms’ vision, of developing original, captive, intellectual property, to demonstrate the power of technology. Ambani also explained the user applications of Jio’s 5G stack, giving examples such as autonomous vehicles which would be using sensors to detect imminent dangers. He added that 5G enabled drones would enable a “digitised agricultural ecosystem and help farmers enhance their crop produce and farming income.” Further applications of Jio’s 5G were claimed to be in the domains of healthcare, by ensuring remote healthcare services, and education, by enabling virtual classrooms.
Further in the meeting, Isha Ambani announced a comprehensive healthcare platform, Jio HealthHub to enable tests at home, teleconsultation, store and share health records etc. The platform was claimed to provide end-to-end healthcare services and powering digital healthcare in India. Ambani claimed that with JioMeet, HealthHub has delivered more than 1500+ consultations in the last four weeks.
