A major fire mishap took place in Visakha Solvents’ plant in Pharma City, Parwada, Visakhapatnam, on Monday. Locals stated that they heard a dozen explosions in the building. This comes in after an industrial gas leak accident took place in Vizag’s LG Polymers (1) chemical plant, earlier in May.
According to the police, a series of blasts were triggered when the samples were being collected from the reactor around 11 pm, resulting in a huge fire. The explosions were followed by a massive fire that was visible across the city. At least 12 fire tenders were deployed to put out the flames.
Another mishap in the port
There were four workers present on the site when the incident took place who ran to safety. One employee, however, sufficed burn injuries and has been taken to the hospital for treatment.
The fire started out in the reactor & spread to the other parts of the plant.
The state government said that the fire was reported from Parwada in Vizag, and citizens need not get worried as the fire was contained within the plant, and the rest was being taken care of by SHO Parwada, ACP, and DCP.
More than half a dozen fire-engines were pressed into service & the situation was brought under control by the early hours on Tuesday.
The incident alarmed the locals who recently suffered the consequences of a blast in another chemical plant, which left over 14 dead and several others injured. This is the third mishap in the port city after the LG Polymers gas leak incident and mishap at Sainor Life Sciences.
