With An Eye To Expand Talent Base, Business Wingify Goes ‘Remote First’

New-Delhi based SaaS company Wingify has joined the list of companies, which has turned into a remote-first organisation. Wingify cofounder and CEO Paras Chopra, on Friday (June 26), shared an internal email written to the employees by cofounder Sparsh Gupta to announce the new work culture.

In the email, Gupta explained that Wingify has always been a remote-friendly organisation, but it no longer has any expectations from employees to spend significant working days in office. However, some job roles and teams may have to-colocate, purely because of specific projects and their job profiles.

With the remote-first structure in place, the company will be able to expand its talent base and business globally as remote culture takes hold in different teams, Gupta said. Besides this, the company can also give up the lease on its existing offices.

However, Gupta clarified that the concept of remote-first is different from “remote-only”, meaning that the company is willing to acknowledge and address both pros and cons of going remote and taking things slowly.

Wingify has also shared a list of challenges that may come up with remote working namely, the inability to set up home office, in-person collaborations and brainstorming, managing personal relationships, onboarding new employees without access body language and “unknown unknowns.”

Gupta assured that the company will be able to resolve the challenges and make “this new normal as productive and fun.”

Commenting on the remote work culture, Chopra, in the tweets, added, “I understand we itch to be out and around people and even I’m done with being stuck at home. But with Covid cases being #1 in Delhi and rising and no sight of vaccines, doing that’s now impossible to do without risking your or your co-workers safety.. Once the vaccine is out, the corona is conquered and you’re more out and about in your personal life, you’ll see your mood and emotions also change about remote.”

Founded in 2009, Wingify is a SaaS-based company whose flagship is a website testing platform product, VWO. The company aims to enable businesses to design and deploy enhanced customer experiences for their websites and apps. Wingify is one of the few Indian companies to have reached about $23 Mn ARR mark while being bootstrapped.

In May 2020, even social media giant Twitter decided to allow its employees to work-from-home “forever” as it had not hampered the employee’s productivity. Meanwhile, Google and Facebook said their staff can work from home until the end of the year. Even Indian footech giant Zomato has decided to allow remote working by the end of the year.
