Vandana Luthra: An Inspiration For Women Entrepreneurs

VLCC (1) is a name that we are all familiar with. The beauty and healthcare products of this brand are known for its authenticity and quality. What people might not be aware of is the success story of the woman behind VLCC – Vandana Luthra. It is her skills and mastery that has brought this company to where it is today. She is not just an incredible entrepreneur but also a wonderful wife and mother.

Vandana Luthra (2) was born on 12th July 1956 into a literate family in Delhi. Her father had a good career as a mechanical engineer, and her mother, an ayurvedic doctor, had been operating a charitable trust called Amar Jyoti. After receiving a graduate degree from the Polytechnic for Women in New Delhi, Vandana travelled to many countries in Europe like Germany, France, the United Kingdom etc. She wished to improve her skills in beauty, food and nutrition and skincare. She is happily married to Mukesh Luthra since 1988 and has two gorgeous daughters.

The magnificent idea of VLCC

The urge to begin a business dawned upon Vandana Luthra when she had just given birth to her second daughter. Back in 1989, a woman starting a business of her own might have seemed like an absurd idea for many. The patriarchal society expected women to stay indoors and take care of children and household chores. Many of them were not even given proper education, let alone a secure job. Vandana’s efforts to make her dream come true faced a lot of criticism from society. They often tried to pull her down and make her fail in her endeavours. However, she was just not ready to give up.

The concept of VLCC was born from Vandana’s passion for making other’s lives more comfortable. She possibly inherited this quality from her father and mother. In her youth, her family used to welcome numerous individuals in their neighbourhood to watch the TV from their home. During the old times, only a few houses in locality owned a television and theirs was one of them. Besides, her mom was a warm social butterfly and had helped many people through her trust, Amar Jyoti. Moreover, this charitable fund run by her mom was the first of its sort, which is devoted to giving instruction to kids in school from kindergarten to seventh.

A while after she got hitched, Vandana hoped to boost the health and wellness in the residential area where her family was dwelling. She had noticed that not many people had any sort of concern regarding wellness, nourishment, diet, and health. An urge to solve this problem led her to establish the Vandana Luthra Curls and Curves company or VLCC. In addition, her enthusiasm for planning exciting hairdos and trying different things with new styles was also included with VLCC’s services. This enterprise gradually grew up into this progressive organisation that is currently known to everybody.
