The birth of Rivigo

Rivigo Founder - Deepak Garg (1)
Rivigo Founder – Deepak Garg

Rivigo was launched by Gazal Kalra and Deepak Garg with the desire to make the logistics division more respectful for truck drivers using a relay network. Gaza Kalra is an MBA graduate from Stanford graduate school of business and did her Masters at Harvard Kennedy School. Deepak had been working at McKinsey for almost ten years when he met Gazal. Together they discussed how the truck drivers were often marginalized for their career choice. Though they were dedicated and hardworking, they often had to spend weeks apart from their loved ones. Most of them could only go home a couple of times a year which was one of the reasons why most people were not willing to take up this job.

As a result, the logistics sector was struggling because of the lack of enough drivers to carry out transits. Logistics, being the backbone of the economy, was in an immediate need for innovation. Gazal and Deepak saw a large room for improvement. They realized that if the living conditions of the drivers could be improved, more people would be ready to take up this profession.  Thus, the idea of Rivigo was born. The drivers of Rivigo are more disciplined, and they get to go back home every single day. Even the smallest steps that Rivigo took led to drastic changes in their lives which brought them more employees and clients.

Fundings and investments

Rivigo has led more than ten rounds of funding through which they raised a total amount of over 250 million dollars. The most prominent investors in Rivigo are Trifecta Capital Advisors, SAIF Partners, KB Global Platform Fund, Warburg Pincus, Innoven Capital, etc. In 2015, one year after they started a business, Rivigo conducted the series A round led by SAIF Partners.

In Junky 2019, they conducted a series E round and saw active participation from the existing investors. Rivigo raised around 65 million dollars which were utilized to further enhance their technological capabilities. The most recent round of funding was series F led by SAIF Partners in which they raised a total of 20 million dollars.
